Subh-e-Nau: An
Environment and Public Health Concern
Subh-e-Nau (SN):
An environment and Public Health Concern
is a registered non-commercial organization working in the areas
of environmental conservation, public health issues and sports
promotion.
Along with its
sister organization Shahida Welfare Trust (SWT), SN has worked
in the above stated areas to an unprecedented degree. Formed in
1997, SWT was the result of dedication of many years of social
work by Mrs. Shahida Kausar Farooq.
Both
organizations represent the selfless dedication of socially
aware individuals who want to bring about meaningful and lasting
change for the country. This dedication has culminated in an
ongoing and highly successful tree plantation campaign, water
conservation, passing of health bills and promotion of
underrepresented athletes, to name a few (for details see
Projects (link here)).
Further, SN is
actively promoting public awareness in the form of the monthly
Subh-e-Nau, and active presence in newspapers and electronic
media. First of its kind, the magazine is one of the many
projects under SN, the organization. Subh-e-Nau Monthly was the
brainchild of eminent social worker, writer and environmentalist
Late Kauser Ali Zaidi, who first published it in Quetta in
1950s.
Subh-e-Nau
literally meaning “a new dawn” reflects the thoughts and efforts
of individuals who optimistically work for a better environment
and a society ready to work in harmony with Nature. The
publication is meant for public awareness about environment and
public health issues.
A strong team
of dedicated individuals including architects, medical experts,
social workers, scientists, educationists and technocrats
voluntarily supports SN and SWT. The organizations endeavor
betterment and uplifting of society in various fields of life,
through enhancing participation of communities, local
authorities and civilians.
Aims and
Objectives
To promote
environmental awareness and to implement programs for improving
various civic amenities. The aim is to enhance participation of
communities, government and civil society in the domain of
environmental conservation and public health.
SN envisions a
Pakistan with a healthy natural environment, well protected
against deterioration to result in widespread socio-economic
prosperity. |
