Against the Grain

Our staple nutrition source is at stake now. Despite recent and token governmental “interventions,” the prices of wheat remain sky high, and worse climbing, whereas shortage abound. Not only ploys in political maneuvering, but more dangerously environmentally unsafe practices and misplaced priorities are the basic causes of this crisis. Use of pesticides, reckless wastage of natural resources, as well as unmitigated economic gains for the few mean that the poor have to bear the brunt of the policies made out by those in power.
