Hard Court Tennis from Saturday Karachi- July 4, 2008:- All is set for Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court Tennis Tournament to be held here at Modern Club, opposite Hill Park, from Saturday. Top stars like Aqeel Khan, Asim Shafique, Nomi Qamar and Natasha Afridi will be in action in six day long gala. Players will contest in six different categories i.e. Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Boys’ Junior’s under-17, Boy’s Junior Under 13 and Girls’ Junior Under -17. Tournament venue was shifted from CDGK sports complex Kashmir Road to Modern Club to provide better facilities to players available at the club. Mrs. Shahida Kauser Farooq, Chairperson Subh-e-Nau, the organizing body, told media Friday that she was not satisfied by the facilities available at CDGK sports complex, so she decided to move to Modern Club. She said that organizers received a good response from players throughout the country and hoped that event would boost national players’ skill to contest in international matches. In first day’s schedule, top stars will try to overcome youngsters to qualify for the main round. Matches will start at 9:00 am and will continue till late evening. |
