Natasha is the new Hard Court Champion
Aqeel khan registers another title victory

Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Cup kicked off

Karachi-July 10, 2008:- Brilliant Natasha Afridi became the new Hard Court champion as she stunned top seed Sara Mansoor in Ladies Singles final. Natasha, who was the star of the National Hard Court Tennis Tournament and had already won the doubles title a day before, outclass Sara in all department of game. Though Sara shown some resistance, however, Natasha was in real form and she beat her senior by 6-2, 6-4.

Aqeel Khan also joined Natasha as he defended the Hard Court Championship successfully by beating Davis Cupper Nomi Qammar in final. Nomi had no reply of Aqeel’s powerful strokes. Aqeel got the title after winning the match by 6-2 and 6-3.

Heera Ashiq outplayed Faizan Khuram in under-17 final and got the title. Faizan, who had qualified for final after beating the top seed S. Zohair Raza, was unable to face Heera. U-17 decider ended in two straight sets.

Mrs. Shahida Kauser Farooq, Chairperson Subh-e-Nau, distributed prizes in post match ceremony. Aqeel Khan, winner of Men’s singles was rewarded with Rupees 40 thousand and a trophy, while his runner-up Nomi got 20 thousand. Natasha Afridi was crowned with Ladies singles title and was rewarded with 20 thousand rupees. Her runner up Sara Mansoor got 12 thousand rupees.

Meanwhile, another national tennis event organized by Subh-e-Nau started n Thursday here at Modern Club Tennis Courts. Besides others, Aqeel khan, Natasha Afridi , Sara Mansoor and Asim Shafique are the main participants of the tournament. Qualifying round was played on Thursday, while tournament will formally kick of from Friday.
